Who I Am

I'm Collin Norcross, a junior at Northeastern University with many passions and even more opinions. Raised by a dad from Western Mass, I've always been a die-hard Boston sports fan. That's undoubtedly where my affinity for writing began. I was writing threads and calculating player statistics on Twitter back before they expanded the character limit to 280. Although my passion for writing is rooted in music and sports, the AP US History course I took in my junior year of high school forever changed my worldview. What I once saw as an opportunity to gain internet virality, I now view as an obligation as a journalist. An obligation to accurately and ethically report the facts about topics that the mainstream media either neglects or pumps full of disinformation. Although short-form media is the new standard, I still place critical value on the importance of blogging. In an effort to garner as much engagement as possible without sacrificing the use of long-form content, I created this website along with accompanying social media accounts. In doing this, I created a platform that allows me to expand upon my opinions, free from the distractions of other users. I can write both serious and satirical pieces and I get to do it my way.

My Story

I started this WordPress blog in eighth grade as a way to share my grandfather’s immigration story; I had no idea I would develop such an affinity for writing. Although I have always loathed the structural inequality that exists in today’s media, the idea of creating my own digital news and entertainment site came my freshman of college when the Roe vs. Wade decision first leaked. Born from the absence of reliable and nonpartisan news outlets came Noss Media (nossmedia.net).
